Missouri Beef Replacement Heifers Inventory

The graph below shows Missouri’s beef replacement heifer January 1 inventory from 1985 to 2015. Between those years, inventory values ranged from 250,000 cattle to 370,000 cattle. During the observed period, Missouri recorded its highest beef replacement heifer inventory in 1994 and the lowest inventory in 2000. On Jan. 1, 2015, Missouri had an inventory of 310,000 head, which placed it near Missouri’s three-decade average of 301,516 heifers.

Texas had the largest beef replacement heifer inventory in the country - 710,000 cattle - on Jan. 1, 2015. Montana and Oklahoma followed Texas. They reported beef replacement heifer inventory levels of 425,000 heifers and 405,000 heifers, respectively. In 2015, note that Missouri ranked sixth nationally for beef replacement heifer inventory.
